Faro beach is very easy to get to. We start our directions from the roundabout at
the entry/exit to Faro’s International Airport.
Zero your trip counter at the roundabout - the large roundabout with the statues
on immediately outside Faro airport. Coming from the direction of the airport, you
need to drive around the roundabout and take the 2nd exit. Driving from the opposite
direction, (heading for the airport), you need the first exit. The exit is sign posted
“Praia de Faro”. After just a couple of hundred metres you will see the straight
road ahead of you. Keep going and at 1.6km, you will have reached the bend in the
road, where the end of the airport runway lays. Keep going on this road and at about
2.3km, you will see the lagoon on both sides of the road. At 2.8km, you will reach
traffic lights which allow you to drive onto the single lane road bridge. At 3.3km
you will have reached the other side and you will be facing a large car park. Parking
is free, and it may be busy in peak times. You can walk left or right from the car
park and you will come across many cafes and restaurants. Behind you is the lagoon,
and in front of you is the ocean. A fabulously wide beach awaits you, just a few
kilometres from Faro’s International Airport...
