Beautiful flower petals carpet the streets of São Brás - for this is how the town looks every Easter Sunday. Thousands of people flock to São Brás to see the patterns of petals lining the streets, and to watch the “Festa das Tochas Floridas”, (Flower Torches Festival) pass through the town. Celebrating the resurrection of Christ is a colourful and moving experience as the town’s men carry flowers, crying “Christ is risen”, followed by “Hallelujahs !”... and a whole procession of the town’s folk follow on behind.
