Like many car hire companies at Faro airport, meeting the clients and dealing with the paperwork is conducted at a kiosk at the edge of car park ‘P4’. Quite simply, after landing at Faro airport, you make your way outside and follow the ‘Pre-Booking Rent-a-car’ signs, and as you approach car park 4, you will see the ‘P4’, on a cube, on a pole... very hard to miss ! If you are arriving at Faro airport by road, it is the first car park on your left side, and it is almost opposite the airport departures.

What’s the best car hire company at Faro airport ? We can’t tell you that...

...But what we can say, is that whilst price is obviously an important factor, it shouldn’t be the most important. Like everything in life we can always find ‘cheaper’, but could there be a ‘price to pay’ ?

We encourage you to check out the competition, on a ‘like for like’ basis, with other on-airport companies, (example: ‘P4’, in front of the terminal...no shuttle busses), and of course find out who you’ll be hiring from.

There is value in knowing exactly who you’re hiring from... You obviously want to hire a car from a well established car hire company at Faro airport, and not be ‘palmed-off’ at the last minute with an un-heard of alternative !

It might be worth mentioning the ‘extras’. Decide exactly what extras you will need; what you might need and those you won’t need. Put all that lot into your comparison... Then decide.

What is and isn’t included in the car hire charges

Prices include unlimited mileage and V.A.T. (at 23%)

Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W) is included with a client responsibility of:

€750 for groups: 0, B, C

€950 for groups: C1, D, E

€1250 for groups: D1, D2, E1, F

€1500 for groups: G, H

€1800 for group: I

 

Super C.D.W  to cover the above excess is:

€7.5/day for groups: 0, B, C

€9.5/day for groups: C1, D, E

€12.5/day for groups: D1, D2, E1, F

€15/day for groups: G, H

€18/day for group: I

 

S.C.D.W does not cover: vandalism (such as any damages inside the car), damaged tyres, wheels, punctures, windows, windscreen, windscreen wipers, wing mirrors, lost keys, lost car documents, forced locks, any accident or damage caused under the influence of alcohol or drugs, wrong fuel usage.

Superspecial Insurance is available at €7.5/day, and covers damaged wheels, tyres and punctures, windscreens, windows and glass, wipers wing mirrors, forced locks and lost keys.

 

Extras available that are not included in the basic price:

Personal accident insurance is available for €2.5/day/car

Baby/booster seats (min. charge €4/day/seat, max. charge €40)

Deliveries/collections up to 20 kms from the airport, €30/rental

Deliveries/collections over 20 kms and the rest of the Algarve, €60/rental

Additional driver €20

Across border to Spain only, €30/rental

GPS (SAT NAV navigation system) €5/day (min. charge €15 max. charge €50)

Arrivals at the kiosk between 9pm and 8am, €20

 

Conditions:

Drivers must be a minimum age of 21, and have a valid driving license, with a minimum of two year's driving experience. Drivers between the ages of 21 and 23, will be charged a ‘young drivers fee’ of €5/day, (min. charge €15.00, max. charge €50)  

Payment can be made by major credit cards or in euros cash when you collect the car. All prices are calculated on a pro-rata per day basis.

Please note: When driving in Portugal, you are obliged by law to carry with you at all times the following documentation: Your driving license; Your identity card or passport; Your vehicle and insurance documents and in the case of a car hire, your car hire agreement. Failure to do so can result in on-the-spot fines if stopped by the police.
